Maria Joao Falcao shares theatre knowledge with students at EME

Maria Joao Falcao is a Portuguese actor, creator and artistic director. This Tuesday, she gave a workshop for students in the theatre and improv class at Escola Municipal d'Expressió d'Olot. She shared theatre techniques she has learned over the course of her career, such as those of Philippe Gaulien, meismen techniques and viewpoints exercises.

“Play is one of the things that interest me most about theatre,” says Falcao. So, it’s not surprising that she played several theatre games with the students to work on the concept of waiting, without them being aware that waiting was the focus of all the activities.

After more than 20 years as a working actor, Maria Joao Falcao started creating her own works, writing, producing and directing. At Faber, she is researching the act of waiting. From all this work on waiting, she hopes to write a play.
